Lot 1 A BR(M) notice, PERMISSION MUST BE OBTAINED FOR VEHICLES TO PASS OVER THE WEIGHBRIDGE, (f/f), used at Derby. Enamel, 12"x9", a couple of minor rim chips, otherwise excellent. £150-300 - Sold for £420.

Lot 3 An LNWR three aspect handlamp, the side stamped OXENHOLME, ENGINEERS, the top, vessel and ceramic burner all marked with the company initials. Repainted. £150-300 - Sold for £150.

Lot 4 A BR(M) totem sign, TIBSHELF TOWN, (f/f), from the Great Central main line, north of Nottingham. Excellent colour and shine. A rare totem not offered for sale at auction before. £700-1000 - Sold for £2100.

Lot 5 A Tyers No. 6 single line tablet, WOLFERTON-DERSINGHAM, (brass/steel), from the Kings Lynn to Hunstanton route which closed in 1969. £250-400 - Sold for £280.

Lot 6 A Halifax High Level Railway viaduct plate, HHLR, 1, (B19 casting). Cast iron, 14¼"x10¼", the front repainted. £150-300 - Sold for £420.

Lot 7 A Midland Railway weight bar indicator, the face marked with the company initials and Wyvern, the brass surround engraved BATH JUNCTION CONTROLLING LEVER, TOWARDS MANGOTSFIELD. Overall diameter 7½". £400-600 - Sold for £1300.

Lot 8 A fingerboard, NO 3 PLATFORM FOR BURNLEY, NELSON & COLNE, probably used at Rose Grove. Painted wood, 55"x5½", in original condition. £100-200 - Sold for £420.

Lot 9 A wagon plate, JONATHAN DUNN & Co, LANCASTER WAGON WORKS, BUILT FOR GREAT CENTRAL RAILWAY. Cast brass, 11½"x9", in original condition. £200-350 - Sold for £950.

Lot 10 A Great Eastern Railway platform wall lamp, the name ELSENHAM FOR THAXTED LINE in raised blue glass lettering. The station was between Stansted and Audley End. The Elsenham and Thaxted Light Railway opened in 1913 and closed in 1953. Height 21" £400-600 - Sold for £980 to commission or postal bidder number 2521.

Lot 11 An LNWR route indicator from the Birmingham area. The instrument is plated SHEEPCOTE LANE, a box between New Street and Monument Lane. Descriptions include Stour Valley Bay, Engine, etc. Overall 16½"x13½". £300-500 - Sold for £2200.

Lot 12 A worksplate, KITSON, 1912, from a Great Central Railway Class 8K 2-8-0 No 1198 built by Kitson, Works No 4906, in September 1912. It became LNER O4 Class No 6198 and was renumbered 3545 in 1946 and 3719 in 1947, becoming BR 63719. Allocated to Doncaster by January 1948, it moved in May 1960 to Gorton from where it was withdrawn on 1 August 1961 and cut up at nearby Gorton Works in the week ending 9 September 1961. Engraved brass, 10½"x6¼", the front lightly polished. £250-400 - Sold for £300.

Lot 13 A pass, GRAND JUNCTION RAILWAY WORKS CREWE / VISITORS TICKET, dating from the 1837-1842 period, 1¾" diameter. £300-500 - Sold for £340.

Lot 14 A single line key token, ST BLAZEY-ST BLAZEY BRIDGE CROSSING, (alloy), from the Par to Newquay branch. £100-200 - Sold for £420.

Lot 15 A BR(M) signal box nameboard, SHAP QUARRY, (f/f). The box was just north of Shap Summit. Enamel, 78"x12", blemishes in places and several small chips. £800-1200 - Sold for £800.

Lot 16 A London Brighton & South Coast Railway three aspect handlamp, complete with S(B)R interior, LB&SCR brass plate, the body stamped EAST CROYDON. Repainted. £150-300 - Sold for £360.

Lot 17 A GWR signal lever plate, 6, TO ASHENDON START'G, from Aynho Junction box, south of Banbury, Ashendon being the junction with the Great Central route. Engraved brass with red wax infill, length 3½". £200-350 - Sold for £200.

Lot 18 A shedplate, 15B, Kettering (1935 to September 1963), then Wellingborough (September 1963 to June 1966). The ex MR shed at Kettering was home to 40 locos while ex MR Wellingborough had around 20 locos when using this code. The front repainted. £100-200 - Sold for £120.

Lot 19 A carriage print, HIGH FORCE, TEESDALE, from a watercolour by E W Haslehurst, R.I., from the LNER pre-war series. £150-300 - Sold for £150.

Lot 20 A Norfolk and Suffolk Joint Railway platform lamp, MUNDESLEY ON SEA, the name at the front engraved on milk glass. The station was on the Cromer Beach to North Walsham route and closed in 1964. Overall height 36", original condition, converted to electric power. £300-500 - Sold for £360.

Lot 21 A BR(NE) totem sign, MOORTHORPE, (f/f), from the Swinton and Knottingley Joint Line. Excellent colour and shine. £1000-1500 - Sold for £1400.

Lot 22 A Great Western Railway cash bag with brass plate, GWR, MAESTEG CASTLE STREET, from the Bridgend to Cymmer Afan route. £100-200 - Sold for £200.

Lot 23 A Great Northern Railway Ireland poster board header. Cast iron, four sections, overall length 41", repainted. £300-500 - Sold for £220.

Lot 24 A BR(M) notice, BRITISH RAILWAYS, AINTREE MOTIVE POWER DEPOT. Enamel, 62"x16", a couple of minor face chips, slight discolouration to the lettering. £300-500 - Sold for £440.

Lot 25 A worksplate, LMS BUILT 1906, N B LOCO, from a Highland Railway Small Ben Class No 47 BEN A'BHUIRD built by the North British Locomotive Co, Works No 17400, in 1906, becoming LMS 14416. A long time Inverness loco, it just survived into BR days, withdrawn in the week ending 21 August 1948 and cut up immediately at Lochgorm Works. Cast brass, 10½"x6", the front repainted. £300-500 - Sold for £750.

Lot 26 A small carriage board, SKIPTON-MANCHESTER VIC. Painted wood, length 32", in original condition. £80-120 - Sold for £50.

Lot 27 A signal box nameboard, GLENWHILLY, a Glasgow and South Western Railway plate from the Ayr to Stranraer route. The station closed in 1965. £150-300.

Lot 28 A Great Central Railway dinner plate, by Copelands, 10¼" diameter, decorative, with gold leaf. £100-200 - Sold for £210.

Lot 29 A nameplate, SIR DINADAN, from the Southern Railway N15 King Arthur Class 4-6-0 No 795, BR 30795, built at Eastleigh in April 1926 and named after a Knight of the Round Table, companion of Sir Tristram, in Arthurian Legend. Allocated by January 1948 to Stewarts Lane where it spent most of its BR years, moving late on to Feltham and Basingstoke from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 4 August 1962 and cut up the same week at Eastleigh Works. Cast brass, length 39¼", the front repainted. £6000-7000 - Sold for £.

Lot 30 A Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway cooperative permissive block instrument with cast brass plate DOWN LOOP and FEATHERSTONE COLL'Y. The box was on the Wakefield to Pontefract route. Overall height 19". £200-350 - Sold for £450.

Lot 31 An LNER seat back plate, STOBS, from the Riccarton to Hawick section of the Waverley route which closed in 1969. Cast iron, length 22", the front repainted. £300-500 - Sold for £520.

Lot 32 A shipbuilders plate, CHARLES HILL & SONS 446, 1964. An unusual plate featuring an image of the Clifton Gorge and Suspension Bridge and the motto, Ship Shape and Bristol Fashion. Cast brass, 10¾"x12½", lightly cleaned and displayed on a polished wood mount. £300-500 - Sold for £420 to commission or postal bidder number 8756.

Lot 33 A GWR cast iron notice warning against riding bicycles or tricycles on the canal towpath. 23½"x15", the front repainted. £200-350 - Sold for £580 to commission or postal bidder number 7273.

Lot 34 A GWR gangers occupation key, BUILTH WELLS-ERWOOD, (brass), from the southern section of the Mid Wales Railway which closed in 1962. £250-400 - Sold for £360.

Lot 35 A worksplate, NASMYTH WILSON, 1452, 1925, from a LMS Class 3P 4-4-2T No 2124, allocated the number 1942 in 1947 but renumbered directly to 41942 by BR. Built specifically for use on the London Tilbury & Southend line, it was at Shoeburyness by January 1935, moving in 1939 to Tilbury and in 1945 to Plaistow, before returning to Tilbury and finishing its days at Stratford from where it was withdrawn on 29 December 1956 and cut up at Derby Works during the week ending 5 January 1957. Cast brass, 13¾"x5½", the front repainted. £300-500 - Sold for £1500 to commission or postal bidder number 2521.

Lot 36 A BR(NE) doorplate, STATION MASTER, (f/f), enamel, 18"x6", rim chipping top left. £350-500 - Sold for £820.

Lot 37 A Midland Railway signal lever plate, HOME FROM EVERCREECH, used in Bath Junction signal box just outside Green Park station. Engraved brass, 4"x5". £250-400 - Sold for £320.

Lot 38 A Southern Railway ships bell from the Isle of Wight paddle steamer RYDE, built by William Denny in 1937. Requisitioned during the second world war she worked as a minesweeper in the Straits of Dover then sailed to Normandy on D-Day, later returning to Isle of Wight service. She was retired by British Rail in 1969. Cast brass, 7½" base diameter, with mounting bracket, the bell engraved PS, RYDE, SR. £300-500 - Sold for £2100.

Lot 39 A good quality teak-cased mid-19th century GWR 12" drop case clock used at Wrexham Central, typical of those supplied by John Walker while they held the GWR clock contract between 1853 and 1871. Overall height: 25½" . The all-solids teak case with chisel base and moulding around the break. Box with single side door with repair note dated 1919 inside, hinges replaced, one stamped GWR. Replaced mahogany bottom door lacking the normal GWR sprung ball latch. Left side with standard Ivorine number plate marked G.W.R. 47. Ogee moulded one-piece dial surround containing a replaced old-style spun bezel with sight ring now soldered in position. Dial repainted and written G.W.R. with normal Roman figures and full minute ring. Typical broad GWR hands. Eight-day chain fusee movement between rectangular plates with wide, shallow feet and shaped, saddle backcock. Rear plate and pendulum rod stamped 2134 and 13314, believed to be early workshop references and frequently found on ex-GWR movements. An LMS region clock census carried out in the late 1960s records this as a GWR clock in use in Wrexham Central signal box (by then in LMS territory following boundary changes). Complete with winder and original pendulum. £600-900 - Sold for £1500 to commission or postal bidder number 1155.

Lot 40 A smokebox numberplate, 90063, from a War Department Austerity 2-8-0 built by the North British Locomotive Co, Works No 24911, in May 1944 to Ministry of Supply Order, WD No 70841. Loaned to the LNER in December 1945 and purchased by them in February 1947, their 07 Class No 3063, it became BR 63063 and 90063 in 1950. Following spells at St Margarets and Carlisle Canal, it moved in August 1950 to Spital Bridge where it spent nearly ten years before moving to March with a final six years at Doncaster from where it was withdrawn on 17 April 1966 and cut up by Drapers at Hull in the week ending 3 September 1966. Ex loco condition. £300-500 - Sold for £280.

Lot 41 A BR(S) totem sign, SWALE HALT, (f/f), from the Sittingbourne to Sheerness route. Excellent colour and good shine. £300-500 - Sold for £480 to commission or postal bidder number 4934.

Lot 42 A builders plate, LONDON, TILBURY & SOUTHEND RAILWAY PLAISTOW WORKS, 1906, carried by one of the company's carriages or wagons. Cast iron, 14¾"9¼", the front repainted. £200-350 - Sold for £1200 to commission or postal bidder number 2521.

Lot 43 A North Staffordshire Railway roll of honour to the company's employees serving in the first world war. Framed, 24"x29", colourful with vignettes of railway scenes. £200-350 - Sold for £330 to commission or postal bidder number 541.

Lot 44 A worksplate, LMS BUILT 1925 HORWICH. Locos built by the LMS at Horwich in 1925 were Class 4P 4-4-0 Nos 1115-30, all of which survived into BR days as 41115-30, and Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway designed Class 5 4-6-0 Nos 10471-4, all of which were scrapped in the 1930s. Cast brass, 10½"x6", the front repainted, the left bolt hole enlarged. £150-300 - Sold for £420.

Lot 45 An LMS leaflet rack, LMS, THE BEST WAY, PLEASE TAKE ONE, wooden, 24½"x4½", height 15". £100-200 - Sold for £380 to commission or postal bidder number 3294.

Lot 46 A (GWR) cabside numberplate, 7913, from a 6959 Modified Hall Class 4-6-0 LITTLE WYRLEY HALL built at Swindon in March 1950 and named after the Hall four miles south-east of Cannock in Staffordshire. Allocated new to Tyseley on 13 March 1950, its later sheds included St Philips Marsh, Cardiff Canton, Cardiff East Dock and Severn Tunnel Junction from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 6 March 1965 and sold for scrap to Birds Commercial Motors at Bynea the following 8 April. Cast brass, the front repainted. £1200-1500 - Sold for £850.

Lot 47 An LNER seat back plate, BANFF BRIDGE, from the Inveramsey to Macduff branch which closed to passengers in 1951. Cast iron, length 39¾", in original condition. £500-800 - Sold for £980 to commission or postal bidder number 892.

Lot 48 An early 20th century brass drum clock supplied by Williamsons for use in the Pullman car Rita. Overall height: 10½ inches. Case of typical nautical style attached to the wall by three screws through the peripheral flange. Rear scratched USD. Silvered brass 8" dial engraved with Arabic numbers, 1-12 filled with black wax, 13 to 24 with red wax and with a slit under 24 for a regulation lever annotated S and F. Also engraved Rita Pullman 1216 centrally and made in England by H. Williamson Ltd. London around the top edge. The 8"dial covered by a bevelled glass held in a substantial cast brass bezel. The bezel a push fit onto the case assisted by a brass knob. Spring driven 8 day lever movement marked Astral Coventry. Williamsons started in 1871 and amalgamated with Grimshaw & Baxter in the early 1920s after which the Astral trade mark was adopted and used by various subsequent owners until the 1950s. Rita was built in 1932 for the Brighton Belle; this clock was probably original equipment. Complete with winder. £500-800 - Sold for £1800.

Lot 49 A BR(W) totem sign, SHREWSBURY, (f/f), a scarce fully flanged example with an edge chip lower right, a little mottling. £500-800 - Sold for £1300.

Lot 50 A shedplate, 83H, Plymouth Friary (February 1958 to May 1963). This ex LSWR shed, formerly in the SR as 72D, was home to just 11 locos at the end of the 1950s. The front repainted. - Sold for £250.

Lot 51 A South Eastern & Chatham Railway notice listing times for delivery of parcels to the station. Enamel, 42"x26", a few minor edge and face chips though generally good. £150-300 - Sold for £160.

Lot 52 A BR(W) totem sign, WREXHAM EXCHANGE, (f/f), from the Birkenhead to Wrexham Central route. Excellent colour and shine. £400-600 - Sold for £1700 to commission or postal bidder number 583.

Lot 53 A GWR registration plate, REGISTERED BY THE GREAT WESTERN RAILWAY CO, No 120, 1922. This plate was carried by a 0-4-0ST named George owned by the New Westbury Iron Co Ltd and built by Andrew Barclay, Works No 1281, in 1912, and indicated that it was allowed to work in the GWR yard sidings at Westbury. Cast iron, 11¾"x6", in ex loco condition. £80-120 - Sold for £420.

Lot 54 A worksplate, LONDON & NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY, 62706, DARLINGTON, 1927, from a LNER D49 Class 4-4-0 No 266 built at Darlington in December 1927 and named FORFARSHIRE. It was renumbered 2706 in 1946 and became BR 62706. A long time Haymarket engine, it moved in April 1957 to Thornton Junction from where it was withdrawn on 3 February 1958 and later scrapped. Cast brass, 9"x5", the front repainted. £400-600 - Sold for £680 to commission or postal bidder number 3108.

Lot 55 A late 19th century 8" LSWR mahogany roundhead clock from Walkers and typical of this supplier; used in Bollo Lane Box, Gunnersbury. Overall height: 10". The box with single side door and bottom door with lock; rear stamped S.W 2820 below what appears to be the same number gouged out. Convex moulded one-piece dial surround containing a replaced spun bezel with clip in sight ring. Dial written S.R John Walker 1, South Molton St. London 2820. S.W. in standard SR style, now in poor condition and covered by a secondary dial written similarly. Typical early Walker wire fusee movement between rectangular plates with wide shallow feet and shaped backcock. Complete with original pendulum, winder, door key and copy of entry in SR records. £500-800 - Sold for £840.

Lot 56 A wagon plate, EMPTY TO SWINDEN SIDINGS, YORKSHIRE DALES RAILWAY, VIA SKIPTON. Cast iron, 15¼"x7½", the front repainted, a vertical weld repair invisible from the front. £150-300 - Sold for £200.

Lot 57 A Midland & Great Northern Joint Railway four aspect handlamp with a large brass plate, WEYBOURNE FOG, M&GNJR, 1705, BR interior, the body side stamped M&GNJR. The station was between Sheringham and Melton Constable and closed in 1964. £350-500 - Sold for £580.

Lot 58 A nameplate MONA, from a 3ft 0ins gauge 2-4-0T, built by Beyer Peacock, Works No 1417, in 1874 which went new to the Isle of Man Railway as their No 5. Withdrawn from service in 1970 and placed in store, where it still remains. Cast brass, 15¼"x5", in original condition. £3000-5000 - Sold for £4800.

Lot 59 A GWR nameboard, AYNHO JUNCTION SIGNAL BOX. The box was south of Banbury where the routes to Oxford and High Wycombe diverge. Cast iron, length 81", in original condition. £400-600 - Sold for £1250 to commission or postal bidder number 8869.

Lot 60 A single line key token, EGGESFORD-KINGS NYMPTON, (alloy), from the Exeter to Barnstaple Junction and Ilfracombe route. £100-200 - Sold for £280 to commission or postal bidder number 2144.

Lot 61 A BR(W) totem sign, BEDMINSTER, (f/f) the first station south of Bristol Temple Meads on the route to Taunton. A couple of edge chips into the brown in the top panel. £250-400 - Sold for £600.

Lot 62 A GWR signal box shelf plate, FROM SOLIHULL, used in a box on the Birmingham to Leamington route. Engraved brass, 4¾"x1½". £100-200 - Sold for £230 to commission or postal bidder number 7056.

Lot 63 A North Eastern Railway wash stand jug, by Bishop and Stonier, china, height 11½", with multicoloured coat of arms on the side. £80-120 - Sold for £60.

Lot 64 A worksplate, CONSTRUCTED AT ASHFORD WORKS, SE&CR, from a South Eastern & Chatham Railway H Class 0-4-4T No 519 built at Ashford in July 1909, which became SR 1519 and BR 31519. Allocated to Tonbridge by January 1948 and later Ramsgate, St Leonards, Faversham and Ashford, finally returning to Tonbridge from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 4 March 1961 and cut up at Ashford Works in the week ending 3 June 1961. Cast brass, 11¼"x5¾", the front repainted. £200-350 - Sold for £500.

Lot 65 A GWR signal box water tank indicator showing the level as high or low, height 9½". £150-300 - Sold for £360.

Lot 66 A Great Northern Railway platform lamp, HUBBERTS BRIDGE, the name on two sides, one name in poor condition, the other good. The station is on the Sleaford to Boston route. Overall height 34" with stand. Probably from the footbridge. The top finial absent. £250-400 - Sold for £150.

Lot 67 A builders plate, THE METROPOLITAN AMALGAMATED RAILWAY CARRIAGE & WAGON Co, SALTLEY WORKS, BIRMINGHAM, 1905. Cast iron, 9¼"x6", repainted. £100-200 - Sold for £300.

Lot 68 A London & North Western Railway, Broad Street Station Refreshment Rooms china meat dish, 17"x13". £100-200 - Sold for £130 to commission or postal bidder number 4243.

Lot 69 A GWR nameboard, CARN BREA SIGNAL BOX, from the Camborne to Redruth section of the Cornish main line. Cast iron, length 85½", in original condition. £400-600 - Sold for £1650.

Lot 70 A BR(Sc) station sign, TRAINS TO CARLISLE AND THE SOUTH, (f/f), used at Hawick station on the Waverley route. Enamel, 30"x24", minor blemishes, rim chips only. £300-500 - Sold for £780.

Lot 71 A nameplate, CUNARD WHITE STAR, from the Southern Railway Merchant Navy Class 4-6-2 Pacific No 21C4 built at Eastleigh in October 1941 and named after probably the most famous shipping line in the world at a ceremony held at Charing Cross station on New Year's Day 1942 by Cunard's Chairman Sir Percy E. Bates. It became BR 35004 and was rebuilt without its streamlined casing in July 1958. Allocated new to Salisbury, it moved in 1942 to Exmouth Junction, returning to Salisbury in 1948 and to Exmouth Junction in 1950, Salisbury again in 1957, finishing its days at Bournemouth from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 30 October 1965 and cut up at Eastleigh shed by a Ringwood based scrap merchant. Cast brass, length 73¼", in ex loco condition. £30000-40000 - Sold for £42000.

Lot 72 A worksplate, OXFORD STEAM PLOUGH CO, COWLEY, OXFORD, MARCH 1909, 73, from a ploughing engine constructed from parts of an old Fowler locomotive. The Company was formed in 1897 and was originally known as Eddison and Nodding after its founders. Cast brass, 13"x8", the front repainted. £200-350 - Sold for £380.

Lot 73 A smokebox numberplate, 90280, from a War Department Austerity 2-8-0 built by the North British Locomotive Co, Works No 25272, in December 1943 to Ministry of Supply order, WD No 77402. Loaned new to the LNER, it returned to the WD in November 1944 and was again loaned to the LNER in March 1947 before purchase by BR, becoming 90280. Allocated to Mexborough by January 1948 and later March, Immingham, Retford, both GC and GN sheds, and finally Frodingham from where it was withdrawn on 5 September 1965 and cut up by Drapers at Hull in the six days ending 18 December 1965. The front repainted. £300-500 - Sold for £300.

Lot 74 A BR(S) totem sign, BRACKNELL, (f/f), from the Waterloo to Reading route. Excellent colour and shine. £300-500 - Sold for £1150 to commission or postal bidder number 730.

Lot 75 A BR(Sc) double royal poster, WESTERN HIGHLANDS, NEAR BALLACHULISH, by Kenneth Steel. (B21876) £150-300 - Sold for £250.

Lot 76 A Webb & Thompson large train staff, THREE BRIDGES-ROWFANT, from the Three Bridges to Tunbridge Wells route, the western section closing in 1967. £150-300 - Sold for £380.

Lot 77 A BR(M) totem sign, BULWELL COMMON, (f/f), from the Great Central main line, north of Nottingham Victoria. The station closed in 1963. Excellent colour and shine, minor blemish and a small edge chip. £600-900 - Sold for £2800.

Lot 78 An original painting, Britannia Class 70033 CHARLES DICKENS climbing towards Shap with a northbound express, by Don Breckon, 1988. Oil on canvas, 24"x18", framed, overall 26½"x20½". £1000-1500 - Sold for £1250.

Lot 79 A Great Eastern Railway signal box diagram, WISBECH HARBOUR JUNCTION, 1913. The box was on the route to Kings Lynn. The diagram includes the Wisbech and Upwell Tramway, Wisbech station, canal and crossings. Original frame, 32½"x16½". £250-400 - Sold for £640 to commission or postal bidder number 2521.

Lot 80 A shedplate, 10A, Springs Branch, Wigan (1935 to February 1958), then Carnforth (September 1963 to August 1968). This ex LNWR shed at Wigan had over 50 locos during this period. The ex LNWR shed at Carnforth, formerly 11A and 24L, had just 3 Jubilees when it adopted this code, but it’s most famous charge was undoubtedly the last Britannia, 70013, which worked 1T57 on the final day of mainline steam. Repainted. £100-200 - Sold for £250.

Lot 81 A Webb & Thompson large train staff, ARDINGLY-HORSTED KEYNES, from the Horsted Keynes to Haywards Heath route which closed in 1963. £200-350 - Sold for £180.

Lot 95 A GWR cabside numberplate, 1019, from the 1000 County Class 4-6-0 COUNTY OF MERIONETH built at Swindon in April 1946. Allocated to Penzance by January 1948, its later sheds included Newton Abbot, Stafford Road, Neyland, Swindon and Shrewsbury from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 9 February 1963 and taken for scrap by Cashmores at Great Bridge on 8 January 1964. Cast brass, in ex loco condition. £2000-3000 - Sold for £1200.

Lot 97 A shedplate, 65J, Fort William (April 1955 to April 1960), then Stirling (April 1960 to June 1966). Fort William had an allocation of 17 locos during this time, numbering just 1 Loch and the famous MacCailin Mor. When Stirling adopted this code it had 30 locos, which had dwindled to just 9 Black Fives in its final year. Ex loco condition. £100-200 - Sold for £130.

Lot 105 A single line key token, RHYDYCAR JC-ABERCANAID, (alloy/cast steel), from the Merthyr to Quakers Yard route which closed in 1954, the short northern section being retained for colliery traffic until 1960. £150-300 - Sold for £160.

Lot 106 A nameplate, WALSINGHAM, from the LNER B17 Sandringham Class 4-6-0 No 2802 built by the North British Locomotive Co, Works No 23805, in November 1928. This was the first B17 to enter traffic at Eastfield depot and was swiftly returned to NBL to have the nameplate moved from the leading splasher to the centre one. The ten locos built by NBL have a unique lettering style. Renumbered 1602 in 1946, it became BR 61602. At Ipswich by January 1948 and later Stratford and Yarmouth South Town from where it was withdrawn on 13 January 1958 and cut up at Doncaster Works. The nameplate is 48¼" long, the front repainted. £6000-8000 - Sold for £4000.00

Lot 108 A worksplate, LMS, BUILT 1900, ST ROLLOX, from a Caledonian Railway 264 Class 0-4-0ST No 622 which became LMS 16031 and BR 56031. It spent most of its working life at Greenock Ladyburn before finishing its days at Motherwell from where it was withdrawn on 2 April 1962 and cut up at Cowlairs Works. In its later years it was hired to various industrial concerns in central Scotland as cover for temporary motive power shortages. Cast brass, 10½"x6", the front repainted. Lot 109 A Midland & Great Northern Joint Railway platform wall lamp, the name WEYBOURNE in raised blue glass lettering, a station between Sheringham and Melton Constable. The lamp is complete with its interior, overall height 26", repainted and an electric supply neatly installed. £250-400 - Sold for £420.

Lot 111 A worksplate, LONDON & NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY, 8340, COWLAIRS, 1912, from a North British Railway Class F 0-6-0T No 116 built in May 1912. It became LNER J88 Class No 9116 and was renumbered 8340 in 1946, becoming BR 68340. Withdrawn from St Margarets on 28 February 1958, it was scrapped at Kilmarnock Works. Lot 113 A winged springbok emblem carried by the LNER A4 Class 4-6-2 No 4488/9/60009, UNION OF SOUTH AFRICA, the body engraved, PRESENTED BY MR C J I FOURIE OF THE FRIEND NEWSPAPERS LTD, BLOEMFONTEIN SOUTH AFRICA DECEMBER 1953. Only one emblem was fitted, to the left hand side of the streamlined casing, and, although presented in December 1953, it was not fitted until 20 April 1954 when the engine was at Doncaster Works in the course of normal repair. The loco spent most of its career at Haymarket before moving in May 1962 to Aberdeen Ferryhill from where it was withdrawn on 1 June 1966 and sold for preservation to Mr John Cameron. Copper, 13"x12", mounted on a wooden board, overall 17"x15½". A little damage at the base of the wing, evidence of original green paint on the top rim. £3000-5000 - Sold for £3000.00.

Lot 118 A shedplate, 36A, Doncaster (1949 to May 1966 to steam). This ex GNR shed had a handful of A3s and B1 Antelopes and Directors in its 1950 allocation of over 180 locos. Lot 119 A worksplate, BEYER PEACOCK, 1878. In 1878 BP supplied locos to a number of Railways in Australia (29 in total) as well as lesser numbers to South Africa, Ireland, Spain and some to UK purchasers. The numbers involved and the late vendor's known collecting interests would suggest this plate is most likely to be from an Australian loco. Lot 127 A shedplate, 84G, Shrewsbury (1950 to September 1960). The ex GWR/LNWR Joint shed had used 4 different BR codes by the time it closed to steam in November 1967. Formerly LMS 4A, a code which BR used until 1950; it became WR 84G then 89A, and finally 6D on transfer to the LMR in 1963. The late 1950s allocation using this code included 7 Counties, 15 Halls, 4 Castles and a pair of Manors. Ex loco condition, the back marked 1311. £100-200 - Sold for £240.

Lot 133 A worksplate, CLYDE, GM, G8/55-76, from a Victorian Railways 5ft 3ins gauge BB Class G8 diesel No T326 built by Clyde in 1955. Lot 135 A GWR cabside numberplate, 5918, from a 4900 Hall Class 4-6-0, WALTON HALL, built at Swindon in July 1931 and named after the Hall at Wellesbourne near Stratford-upon-Avon, now a hotel. Allocated to Oxley by January 1948 and later Old Oak Common, Southall for nine years, Didcot and Oxford from where it was withdrawn on 7 September 1962 and despatched for scrap to A.King at Norwich on 29 November 1963. Lot 136 A Midland Railway wyvern and garter. Cast iron, the garter around 42"x47", a small repair to the horn of the wyvern. £500-800 - Sold for £300.

Lot 137 A BR(W), totem sign, INSTOW, (h/f) from the former Southern Railway branch between Barnstaple Junction and Torrington. The lines west of Exeter had been transferred to the Western Region at the time the station was resigned. A crease repair to the left and one small face chip restored. £1000-1500 - Sold for £750.

Lot 138 A Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway platform gas lamp. A stylish elongated design in copper with a separate enamelled steel roof and complete with cradle. The lamp was used at Heywood on the Bury to Castleton route. Height 18", the body 19" square, cleaned and polished. £150-300 - Sold for £150.

Lot 144 A worksplate, NORTH BRITISH LOCOMOTIVE Co, QUEENS PARK WORKS, 23237, 1925, from a LMS Class 4P 4-4-0 No 1143 which became BR 41143. After many years at Carlisle Kingmoor, it spent most of its BR days at Nottingham and Derby from where it was withdrawn on 27 February 1959 and subsequently scrapped. Cast brass, 13"x5¼", the front repainted. £200-350 - Sold for £520.

Lot 145 A group of plates from the departure indicator at Thornton Junction, including Cowdenbeath, St Andrews and Bath, with AM and PM plates, all within a wooden frame. Overall 7½"x26¾". £100-200 - Sold for £100.

Lot 146 A smokebox numberplate, 30503, from a London & South Western Railway S15 Class 4-6-0 No 503 built at Eastleigh in August 1920, retaining this number in SR days and becoming BR 30503. A long time Feltham engine, it was withdrawn from there in the week ending 22 June 1963 and cut up at Eastleigh Works in the week ending 5 October 1963. Lot 148 A London Transport target sign, SHEPHERDS BUSH, from the Hammersmith and City route, formerly GWR and Metropolitan Joint. Enamel, 24¼"x19¾", within a brass frame. £350-500 - Sold for £950 to commission or postal bidder number 8436.

Lot 149 A nameplate, WINDWARD ISLANDS, from the LMS Jubilee Class 6P 4-6-0 No 5637 built at Crewe and allocated new to Crewe North on 19 December 1934 but not named until March 1936, becoming BR 45637. Its later sheds included Patricroft, Carlisle Upperby, Crewe North and Edge Hill where it was shedded when involved in Britain's worst peacetime railway disaster at Harrow & Wealdstone station on 8 October 1952 involving three trains, one a Euston to Liverpool express double headed by Princess Royal No 46202 piloted by 45637. Both engines were damaged beyond repair and 45637 was cut up at Crewe Works by 23 January 1953. The nameplate has survived in fine original condition. Lot 150 An LSWR tail lamp with a large copper plate, IRON BRIDGE EXAMINER, EXMOUTH JUN and LSWR. The lamp is complete with interior, the body stamped L&SWR, 192, overall height 19", repainted. £300-500 - Sold for £600.

Withdrawn from St Margarets on 12 December 1963, it was cut up at Darlington Works. Lot 192 A smokebox numberplate, 48629, from a Stanier Class 8F 2-8-0 No 8629 built by the SR at Brighton to Railway Executive Committee order in 1943 and allocated new to the LMS on 9 June 1943 at Willesden where it spent most of its working life with a final three years at Saltley from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 20 August 1966 and taken for scrap by Cashmores at Great Bridge on 15 November 1966. Lot 222 A Hedjaz Railway cabside numberplate, 103, from a 1050mm gauge 2-8-0 built by Hartmann of Chemnitz, works number 3463, in 1910. Originally number 62, but renumbered 103 before World War One, during which this famous pilgrim railway in the Ottoman Empire was within the Central Powers' territory. The line provided a strategic link to Mecca and came under attack from British & Arab irregulars led by Col. T.E. Lawrence; no. 110 of this class still lies where it was derailed in the Saudi desert in 1917. No. 103 survived the breakup of the Hedjaz system and entered Palestine Railways stock (class 2H) by 1926. In the Second World War, P.R. was operated by the Royal Engineers, but the 1050mm gauge lines fell into disuse by the time of the formation of the State of Israel, 103 being withdrawn by April 1947 and subsequently scrapped at Qishon works, Haifa. Cast brass, 8¾"x7¼", lightly polished. £100-200 - Sold for £1200 to commission or postal bidder number 2905.

Allocated new to Exmouth Junction, it later had lengthy spells at Bath on the Somerset & Dorset Joint line and Bournemouth before finishing its days at Eastleigh from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 2 October 1965 and despatched for scrap to J.Buttigieg at Newport on 3 January 1966. Lot 251 A nameplate, THE NORTHAMPTONSHIRE REGIMENT, with its matching regimental badge, from the LMS Royal Scot Class 7P 4-6-0 No 6147 built by the North British Locomotive Co, Works No 23642, in 1927 and which became BR 46147. Originally named Courier after the pioneer loco, it was renamed on 17 October 1935 at a ceremony at Northampton Castle station by Lady Knox, the wife of the Regiment's Colonel in Chief, in the presence of several detachments of the Regiment and local dignatories. Allocated to Crewe North by January 1948, its later sheds included Carlisle Upperby, Camden, Holyhead, Millhouses, Canklow and Willesden from where it was withdrawn on 27 November 1962 and cut up at Crewe Works by 7 March 1963. The nameplate 52" long, the front repainted, the badge 11" diameter, the pair attractively mounted on a wooden backboard. £9000-12000 - Sold for £15000.

Lot 256 A mid to late 19th century LNWR oak-cased wall long case regulator clock used at Nantwich. Overall height: 52½". Trunk with pediment supporting hood, arch topped door with repairs and lacking lock. Original shaped base now flat. Top of backboard reinforced with old wood and incorporating and old hanging plate. Forward sliding hood housing a replaced modern spun brass bezel; standard early LNWR vitreous enamel number plate marked 2669 on the front. 12" dial, attached to the movement via a false plate, repainted and written Joyce Whitchurch 2669. Wire line to replaced 9 lb cast iron weight, with drive for slave dial and corresponding hole in the backboard to take the rod. An LMS region clock census in the late 1960s records this clock in the Booking Hall at Nantwich. Lot 274 A shedplate, 84A, Wolverhampton Stafford Road (1949 to September 1963), then Plymouth Laira (September 1963 to June 1973). The ex GWR shed at Wolverhampton had a star studded allocation throughout its BR life. In 1950 its allocation of 66 locos included 5 Counties, 10 Castles, 6 Stars, 6 Kings, 8 Halls and 2 Granges. By 1959, while the overall total had reduced to 47, its King allocation had gone up by 2. Plymouth Laira, formerly 83D, used this code for 7 months before it lost its steam allocation. However some of its diesels were known to have carried this style of plate. The front repainted. - Sold for £460.

Allocated to Aberdeen Ferryhill by January 1948, it moved the following year to St Margarets where it spent almost the remainder of its working life with a final brief stay at Dundee Tay Bridge from where it was withdrawn on 27 April 1964 and cut up at Cowlairs Works. Lot 286 A nameplate, ANDREW K. McCOSH, from the LNER A4 Class 4-6-2 No 4494 built at Doncaster, Works No 1859, in August 1937 and originally named Osprey but officially renamed at Kings Cross station on 29 October 1942 in honour of the Chairman of the Locomotive Committee of the LNER Board of Directors, one of only five Directors who served all the 25 years of the LNER. Renumbered No 3 in 1946, it became BR 60003. Allocated new to Heaton, it was at Kings Cross by May 1939 and spent the remainder of its working life there except for two very brief stays at Grantham. Lot 292 A shedplate, 75D, Horsham (1950 to July 1959), then Stewarts Lane (June 1962 to September 1963 for steam). This ex LBSCR shed had 15 locos when it lost its code and became a sub shed of Three Bridges and then Brighton. The ex SECR shed at Stewarts Lane had 45 locos when using this code. On becoming a diesel and electric depot, several of its allocation also carried this code. Ex loco condition, the back marked with the BR(S) Eastleigh triangle. £100-200 - Sold for £100.

Lot 294 A worksplate, LONDON & NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY, 7492, REBUILT STRATFORD, 1924, from a Great Eastern Railway Class T26 2-4-0 No 492 which became LNER E4 Class No 7492. It was allotted a new number 7803 in 1942 but this was never carried and it was later renumbered 2786 in 1946 and became BR 62786. The rebuilding referred to on the plate appears to have consisted of fitting a new boiler. Allocated to Cambridge by January 1948, it moved to Bury St Edmunds the following year, returning in 1952 to Cambridge from where it was withdrawn on 30 July 1956 and subsequently scrapped. Cast brass, 9"x5", the front repainted, brass plugs soldered to bolt holes. £200-350 - Sold for £270.

Lot 298 A wagon plate, STONEY STANTON JUNCTION, as attached to a wagon owned by Stoney Stanton Quarries, Leicestershire. The junction and exchange sidings with the company's line were between Leicester and Nuneaton. Enamel, 30"x13", areas of chipping sympathetically restored. £250-400 - Sold for £440.

Lot 299 An early 20th century SECR 12" drop case clock used at Orpington. Overall height: 20". Oak case now veneered in mahogany on all show parts. Curved base with door closed by turn with large brass knob, standard with SECR clocks. Side door with brass number plate inside marked 1372. Box rear stamped 1372 S.E. Bezel replaced. Dial written in normal John Walker/BR(S) style including red Arabic 24 hour markings, railway identifiers rubbed, rear stamped 1732 S.E., probably an error. Chain fusee movement stamped G&B indicating the makers Grimshaw & Baxter and SE&CRy both within cartouches. Movement complete but needs attention. Ex-SR records shows this clock at Orpington, carriage cleaners, later moved to Grove Park, local line platform. Complete with pendulum, bob stamped 1372, winder and copy of entry in records. £500-800 - Sold for £280.

Lot 312 A worksplate, JAMES MATTHEWS, BRISTOL, from a 2-2-0 steam tram built between 1879 and 1881 and sold to the Wantage Tramway in 1885, becoming their No 6, and withdrawn on the cessation of passenger traffic on 31 July 1925. Although James Matthews patented a steam tram in 1879, they did not carry out any building. One theory is that it was possibly built by Fox Walker of Bristol, the other, in the history of the Tramway, that the builder was Kingsbury Ironworks of London. The plate, originally acquired by C. Hamilton Ellis, is accompanied by a photograph of the tram showing the position of the plate on the front buffer beam, although the wording is not legible. Engraved brass, 8"x5", the face polished. £500-800 - Sold for £4100.

Lot 313 A LMS (NCC) cabside numberplate, 84, from a U2 Class 4-4-0 built by the NCC at York Road Works in December 1929, using parts from A Class compound 4-4-0 No 20, and named LISSANOURE CASTLE in September 1931. Lot 317 A locomotive headboard, THE CORNISHMAN, carried on the Wolverhampton (Low Level) to Penzance service via Stratford-upon-Avon. Lot 336 A shedplate, 10D, Plodder Lane (1935 to October 1954), then Sutton Oak (October 1954 to February 1958), and Lostock Hall (September 1963 to August 1968). The ex LNWR shed at Plodder Lane had just 17 locos on its books. On closure the code was adopted by ex LNWR shed Sutton Oak, formerly 10E, which looked after 35 locos. Lot 339 A smokebox numberplate, 92244, from a BR Standard Class 9F 2-10-0 built at Crewe and allocated new to Ebbw Junction on 28 October 1958. Lot 345 A nameplate EBBW VALE, together with worksplate PECKETT 1016, 1904. The nameplate was carried by a standard gauge 0-6-0ST, Peckett 1015 of 1904, new to Ebbw Vale Co, Ebbw Vale Steel & Iron Works, Monmouthshire. Taken over by Richard Thomas & Co. Ltd. in 1935. In 1956 the locomotive was rebuilt with the frames of sister locomotive SIRHOWY, Peckett 1016, 1904, and it henceforward carried the latter’s worksplates. Scrapped at Ebbw Vale around September 1961. Lot 350 A London and North Western Railway ships bell from the Holyhead to Dublin steamer CAMBRIA. The first ship to carry the name operated between 1848 and 1894. This bell is from the ship built in 1897. Following the renaming of the ship the bell was transferred to a new vessel in 1920, which was scrapped in 1949. Cast brass, 12" base diameter, the top stamped L&NWR. An LNWR postcard of the ship accompanies the lot. Lot 371 A shedplate, 5B, Crewe South (1935 to November 1967). This ex LNWR shed was responsible for the freight locos serving the adjacent marshalling yards. Its allocation of 115 in 1959 was briefly enhanced by the arrival of 10 Jubilees in the early 60s. Between the summers of 1965 and 66 it was home to 24 Britannias out of a total allocation of 60 locos allocated. An LMS style plate, repainted. £100-200 - Sold for £120.

Lot 373 A Southern Railway cabside numberplate 1231, from a South Eastern Railway F Class 4-4-0 No 231 built at Ashford in October 1893, rebuilt by the South Eastern & Chatham Railway and re-classified to F1 Class in July 1907. It became SR 1231 and BR 31231. Allocated to Faversham by January 1948, it moved towards the end of that year to Reading SR from where it was withdrawn on 8 March 1949 and cut up at Ashford Works on 23 July 1951. Its BR sheds were Warrington Dallam and Speke Junction from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 1 October 1966 and cut up by Drapers at Hull in the week ending 25 February 1967. Lot 378 An LMS lamp tablet, GARSTON (CHURCH ROAD), from the Liverpool to Garston Dock route. The station closed in 1939. Enamel, 17"x4½", a little edge chipping. £150-300 - Sold for £180.

Lot 379 A nameplate, CHARLES J HAMBRO, from a GWR 2900 Saint Class 4-6-0 No 178 built at Swindon, Works No 2112, in April 1905 and originally named KIRKLAND after the racehorse owned by the GWR Director Frank Bibby which won the 1907 Grand National. It was renumbered 2978 in December 1912 and renamed in May 1935 after the GWR Director who became Chairman in 1940. Allocated new to Bristol Bath Road, it was withdrawn from Swindon in August 1946 and cut up at Swindon Works. The plate has been repainted, the re-used backplate clearly showing the position of the letters of the original name. Repainted £4500-5000 - Sold for £3600.

Lot 380 An LNER seat back plate, SHILDON, from the Darlington to Wearhead and Barnard Castle route. Cast iron, length 23¾", in original condition. £200-350 - Sold for £490.

Lot 381 A GWR coat of arms from a 3031 or Achilles Class 4-2-2 Single No 3059 built at Swindon, Works No 1419, in April 1895 to William Dean's design and named VOLTIGEUR, most likely after a mid 19th century racehorse, but renamed JOHN W. WILSON in March 1908 after a GWR Director (1908-1932). Brass coats of arms were fitted to both splashers below the nameplates. It was withdrawn in June 1913 and scrapped at Swindon Works. Cast brass, 11½" diameter, in ex loco condition. The plate is hollow to the rear within the area of the shield. The back is clearly stamped with the engine number, 3059. £500-800 - Sold for £2600.

Lot 419 A worksplate, L&NER, 1791, 1921, from a Great Northern Railway Class H3 2-6-0 No 1701 built by Kitson & Co, Works No 5351, in August 1921. It became LNER K2 Class No 1791 and, following its transfer to Scotland, was named LOCH LAGGAN in May 1933 after the Loch near Tulloch. It was renumbered 1791 in 1946 and became BR 61791. Apart from three months at Eastfield in 1953 it spent all its BR days at Fort William from where it was withdrawn on 22 March 1960 and cut up at Cowlairs Works. Lot 421 A shedplate, 74A, Ashford (1950 to October 1958). This ex SR shed had six King Arthurs in an allocation of 60 in 1950. Lot 422 An LMS Hawkseye target sign, NORTHFIELD, from the Birmingham to Gloucester route. An unusual enamel example, length 48", from the suburb south of New Street, presumably an experimental pattern. £300-500 - Sold for £250.

Lot 423 A locomotive headboard, THE PALATINE, carried on the St Pancras to Manchester (Central) express. The title was introduced in 1938 but withdrawn during WWll and not re-introduced until 16 September 1957. Its last titled run was on 13 June 1964. Allocated to Gloucester by January 1948 and later Oxley, Banbury, Laira, Old Oak Common, Reading and Cardiff Canton from where it was withdrawn on 8 May 1962 and cut up at Swindon Works in the five days ending 29 June 1962. Lot 427 A worksplate, No 2113 DARLINGTON 1950, from a (LMS) Class 4 2-6-0 No 43071 allocated new to Darlington on 6 September 1950. Its later sheds included West Auckland, Tweedmouth (sub-shedded at Alnmouth), Thornaby, York North and North Blyth from where it was withdrawn on 6 March 1967 and sold for scrap to Arnott Young at Fighting Cocks. Lot 430 A nameplate CROXLEY originally carried by Peckett No 770 of 1899, a standard gauge 0-4-0ST supplied new to John Dickinson & Co, Croxley Green Paper Mills, Hertfordshire. When this locomotive was scrapped in 1937 the nameplates were transferred to an Andrew Barclay 0-4-0 fireless locomotive, works number 1434 of 1915. This had been supplied new to the Ministry of Munitions at Queensferry, Flint and acquired by John Dickinson for work at Croxley Green in late 1923 or early 1924. It was scrapped in June 1962. Included in this Lot is a worksplate, ANDREW BARCLAY, 2049 of 1937, from another 0-4-0 fireless locomotive purchased new by John Dickinson in 1937 and scrapped in April 1967. The nameplate, length 30", the worksplate 16¾"x11½", the fronts repainted, the two displayed on a wooden mount. (2) £700-1000 - Sold for £760.

Lot 439 A shedplate, 84K, Chester (GWR) (1948 to February 1958), then Wrexham Rhosddu (February 1958 to January 1960). The ex GWR shed at Chester had around 55 locos while using this Western Region code. It was transferred to the London Midland, becoming 6E, and closing in April 1960. The ex GCR shed at Wrexham Rhosddu, formerly 6E, exchanged places with Chester, and also had around 55 locos. It closed to steam in January 1960. The front repainted. £100-200 - Sold for £130.

No 65761 was long time Newport NER engine until moving in June 1958 to the new Thornaby shed from where it was withdrawn on 18 June 1962 and cut up at Darlington Works. Allocated to Hornsey by January 1948, it moved in March 1951 to Retford GC from where it was withdrawn on 19 December 1959 and later scrapped. Lot 464 A shedplate, 83D, Plymouth Laira (1949 to September 1963, recoded 84A, closed to steam April 1964). This ex GWR depot had between 80 and 100 locos during the period it used this code. At one time it had 18 Castles, 3 Counties, 1 star, 11 Halls, 2 Granges, 4 Manors and last but not least, 10 Kings. It was also home to Class 41/43 Warships and Class 52 Westerns, many being noted carrying these cast iron steam codes. Loaned new to the LMS, it returned to the WD in January 1945 and was loaned to the LNER in September 1947 before purchase by BR, becoming No 90227. Allocated to St Margarets by January 1948, its later sheds included Mold Junction and Staveley Barrow Hill from where it was withdrawn on 26 September 1965 and taken for scrap by Cashmores at Great Bridge on 23 November 1965. Cast white brass, 13¾"x5½", the front repainted. £150-300 - Sold for £190.

Lot 497 A BR(W) totem sign, BORDESLEY, the first station south of Birmingham Snow Hill on the routes to Leamington and Stratford. Blemishes to the face and a small chip in the lower panel restored. £300-500 - Sold for £360.

Lot 498 A depot plaque YORKSHIRE ROSE for Tinsley. Cast aluminium, 17¾" square, in ex loco condition. £200-350 - Sold for £540 to commission or postal bidder number 8808.

Lot 499 A worksplate, PECKETT, 1223, 1912, from a standard gauge 0-4-0ST which went new to the Midland Railway Carriage & Wagon Co. Ltd, Washwood Heath, Birmingham, later part of Metropolitan Carriage, Wagon & Finance Co Ltd. Sold in 1927 to Howley Park Coal & Cannel Co. Ltd., Batley, Yorkshire, West Riding. They sold it in 1930 to Swanwick Collieries Ltd, Ripley, Derbyshire, where it became No 3. Later with Furnace Hill & Renishaw Park Collieries Ltd, Derbyshire. To NCB with colliery in January 1947. Scrapped at Renishaw Park around 1963. Engraved brass, 12"x8½". £150-300 - Sold for £180.
