A smokebox numberplate, 4977, from a GWR 4900 Hall Class 4-6-0 WATCOMBE HALL built at Swindon in January 1930 and named after the mansion near Torquay designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel and now a hotel & conference centre known as Brunel Manor. Allocated to Gloucester by January 1948 and later Oxley, Banbury, Laira, Old Oak Common, Reading and Cardiff Canton from where it was withdrawn on 8 May 1962 and cut up at Swindon Works in the five days ending 29 June 1962. The front repainted. £500-800 |
