A smokebox numberplate, 5030, from the GWR 4073 Castle Class 4-6-0 SHIRBURN CASTLE, built at Swindon and named after the Castle near Watlington in South Oxfordshire. Allocated new to Exeter on 1 June 1934, it spent most of its working life from 1936 at Cardiff Canton, moving in 1958 to Carmarthen from where it was withdrawn on 7 September 1962 and sold for scrap to Hayes at Bridgend the following 26 November. The front repainted. £800-1200 |
