In 1878 BP supplied locos to a number of Railways in Australia (29 in total) as well as lesser numbers to South Africa, Ireland, Spain and some to UK purchasers. The numbers involved and the late vendor's known collecting interests would suggest this plate is most likely to be from an Australian loco. Cast brass, 14¾"x7", in ex loco condition. £300-500 |
