A nameplate, ETARRE, from a BR Standard Class 5 4-6-0 No 73114 built at Doncaster in 1955 and named at Eastleigh Works on 2 April 1960 after the unfaithful lover of Sir Pelleas in Arthurian Legend, a re-use of the name but not the nameplates originally carried by King Arthur Class No 30751. Allocated new on 3 November 1955 to Nine Elms, where it spent almost nine years, and later Eastleigh and Weymouth from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 4 June 1966 and taken for scrap by Cashmores at Newport on 23 September 1966. Cast brass, length 31¼", the front repainted. £4500-6000 |
