A locomotive headboard, THE NORTHUMBRIAN, with two shields depicting the arms of London (left) and the ancient Kingdom of Bernicia, the northern part of Northumberland (right), carried on the King's Cross to Newcastle express which made its first titled journey on 26 September 1949 and its last on 13 June 1964. 41½"x15½", the face probably repainted. The board is complete with its enamel crests and is stamped The North Briton on the back, a train whose board would be of the same dimensions. £2000-3000 |
