| Lot 73 | A smokebox numberplate, 90280, from a War Department Austerity 2-8-0 built by the North British Locomotive Co, Works No 25272, in December 1943 to Ministry of Supply order, WD No 77402. Loaned new to the LNER, it returned to the WD in November 1944 and was again loaned to the LNER in March 1947 before purchase by BR, becoming 90280. Allocated to Mexborough by January 1948 and later March, Immingham, Retford, both GC and GN sheds, and finally Frodingham from where it was withdrawn on 5 September 1965 and cut up by Drapers at Hull in the six days ending 18 December 1965. The front repainted. £300-500 |
