A nameplate, SIR DINADAN, from the Southern Railway N15 King Arthur Class 4-6-0 No 795, BR 30795, built at Eastleigh in April 1926 and named after a Knight of the Round Table, companion of Sir Tristram, in Arthurian Legend. Allocated by January 1948 to Stewarts Lane where it spent most of its BR years, moving late on to Feltham and Basingstoke from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 4 August 1962 and cut up the same week at Eastleigh Works. Cast brass, length 39¼", the front repainted. £6000-7000 |
