A worksplate, No 2054 DONCASTER 1949, from a Peppercorn A1 Class 4-6-2 No 60160 built at Doncaster in December 1949 and named AULD REEKIE in March 1951 after a nickname for Edinburgh. Allocated new to Haymarket on 2 December 1949 where, apart from very brief spells at Polmadie and St Margarets, it spent all its working life. Withdrawn from St Margarets on 12 December 1963, it was cut up at Darlington Works. Engraved brass, 13¼"x7¾", in ex loco condition, the back stamped 160. £1200-1500 |
