	A good quality teak-cased mid-19th century GWR 12" drop case clock used at Wrexham Central, typical of those supplied by John Walker while they held the GWR clock contract between 1853 and 1871. Overall height: 25½" . The all-solids teak case with chisel base and moulding around the break. Box with single side door with repair note dated 1919 inside, hinges replaced, one stamped GWR. Replaced mahogany bottom door lacking the normal GWR sprung ball latch. Left side with standard Ivorine number plate marked G.W.R. 47. Ogee moulded one-piece dial surround containing a replaced old-style spun bezel with sight ring now soldered in position. Dial repainted and written G.W.R. with normal Roman figures and full minute ring. Typical broad GWR hands. Eight-day chain fusee movement between rectangular plates with wide, shallow feet and shaped, saddle backcock. Rear plate and pendulum rod stamped 2134 and 13314, believed to be early workshop references and frequently found on ex-GWR movements. An LMS region clock census carried out in the late 1960s records this as a GWR clock in use in Wrexham Central signal box (by then in LMS territory following boundary changes).
