A nameplate, WALSINGHAM, from the LNER B17 Sandringham Class 4-6-0 No 2802 built by the North British Locomotive Co, Works No 23805, in November 1928. This was the first B17 to enter traffic at Eastfield depot and was swiftly returned to NBL to have the nameplate moved from the leading splasher to the centre one. The ten locos built by NBL have a unique lettering style. Renumbered 1602 in 1946, it became BR 61602. At Ipswich by January 1948 and later Stratford and Yarmouth South Town from where it was withdrawn on 13 January 1958 and cut up at Doncaster Works. The nameplate is 48¼" long, the front repainted. £6000-8000 |
