A nameplate KIVETON No 2 from Andrew Barclay 1650 of 1919, a standard gauge 0-4-0 saddle tank, new to Kiveton Park Coal Co Ltd, near Sheffield. Passed to the NCB with the colliery in January 1947 and finally scrapped on site between April and September 1966. Lot 21 Cabside Numberplates: SAR, 1447, 3R.
A South African Railways cabside numberplate 1447, from a 3ft 6ins gauge Natal Government Railways 4-8-2 built by the North British Locomotive Co, Works No 18830, in 1909, NGR No 331, for handling coal traffic on the upper Natal main line. After the SAR was formed in 1910, it became their Class 3 No 1447 and, following reboilering, was re-classified as Class 3R. The class finished their days shunting in the Cape Town area and were finally withdrawn in 1974. Cast brass, 20¾"x14¾", in ex loco condition. £250-400 - Sold for £320 to bidder number 560

A worksplate, STALINA, 1910, 1953, from a 5ft gauge 0-10-0 of class Єr, no. 789-14, built by the renamed Cegielski works in Poznan, Poland for SZD, the Russian State Railways. Thought to be the world's most numerous steam locomotive class built by various satellite countries for Russia. Lot 29 Smokeboxes: 7027, Thornbury Castle.
A smokebox numberplate 7027 from the (GWR) 4073 Castle Class 4-6-0 built at Swindon and named THORNBURY CASTLE after the Twelfth Century Castle north of Bristol. Allocated new to Newton Abbot on 26 August 1949 and later Laira, Old Oak Common for nine years, Worcester and Reading from where it was withdrawn on 28 December 1963 and sold to Woodham Bros at Barry. It was acquired by Birmingham Railway Museum in 1972 and, following several changes of owner, was purchased in January 2020 by a private individual who intends to restore it for use at the Great Central Railway. Allocated to Swindon by January 1948 and later Bristol Bath Road, St Philips Marsh, Didcot, Machynlleth and Shrewsbury from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 11 August 1962 and sold for scrap to Cashmores at Great Bridge. The Western Region took over the former Southern routes west of Exeter in the early 1950s during which time Instow was re-signed, together with Morthoe and Kings Nympton. Lot 59 Nameplates: Snowdon (LNWR).
A nameplate, SNOWDON, incorporating the building details, L&NWR Co, CREWE WORKS, APRIL 1875 and stamped REBUILT 11/92, from a LNWR Precedent Class 2-4-0 No 2191. Rebuilt in November 1892, it became LMS No 5001 in March 1928 and was renumbered 25001 on 24 April 1934. Withdrawn on 3 November 1934, it was cut up at Crewe Works. A shedplate 9D Buxton (1935 to September 1963), then Newton Heath (September 1963 to February 1968). The ex LNW shed at Buxton had 55 locos in the 1950s, before becoming 9L. Lot 79 Worksplates (Steam): Hawthorn Leslie, 4115.
A worksplate, HAWTHORN LESLIE, 4115. Locomotives built by the company stop at works number 3853 after which the locomotive department was acquired by Robert Stephenson & Co. They did, however, continue to make marine engines and this plate is probably from one such engine. Engraved brass, 25"x11¼", an impressive plate, lightly polished. £100-200 - Sold for £440 to bidder number 8999

A BR(W) signal lever plate, 30 CYLLA BRANCH + OVER - 33, 21. The branch on the Rhymney Railway ran from Ystrad Mynach to Penallta Colliery. Engraved trafolite, 1¾"x7½", staining to the right side. £30-50 - Sold for £30 to bidder number 701
