| Lot 21 | Cabside NumberplatesSAR, 1447, 3RA South African Railways cabside numberplate 1447, from a 3ft 6ins gauge Natal Government Railways 4-8-2 built by the North British Locomotive Co, Works No 18830, in 1909, NGR No 331, for handling coal traffic on the upper Natal main line. After the SAR was formed in 1910, it became their Class 3 No 1447 and, following reboilering, was re-classified as Class 3R. The class finished their days shunting in the Cape Town area and were finally withdrawn in 1974. Cast brass, 20¾"x14¾", in ex loco condition. £250-400 |
