Worksplates (Diesel)
Hudswell Clarke, DM1435, 1979
A worksplate, HUDSWELL, CLARKE DM 1435 of 1979 from a 2ft 6in gauge flamproofed diesel locomotive built for underground work. The locomotive was actually constructed by the Hunslet Engine Company and given their works number 8583. Delivered new as No 5 to NCB Peckfield Colliery, Micklefield, Yorkshire. Transferred to Wheldale Colliery at Castleford in January 1981 and then in 1988 to the NCB Kellingley Training Centre at Knottingley. Taken over by RJB Mining when the coal industry was privatised and eventually passed into preservation. Presently located at the Royal Forest of Dean's Mining Museum, Clearwell Caves, Coleford. Cast brass, 8¼"x4", ex loco condition. £80-120
