Beyer Peacock 1927
A worksplate, BEYER PEACOCK, 1927, from a Ceylon Government Railways 5ft 6ins gauge Incline Class 4-6-0, later Class B1, BP Works No 6398, which entered traffic in 1928 as CGR No 4 and later named SIR EDWARD STUBBS after the Governor of Ceylon from 1933 to 1937. Withdrawn in 1969. The most prolific passenger class in Ceylon, they worked expresses and final locals before being displaced by diesels. Ex loco condition with No 4 painted on the back and originally from the collection of the late Hugh Ballantyne. Cast brass, 9¾"x5½", ex loco condition. £150-300
