Sarum Castle
A nameplate SARUM CASTLE from the GWR 4073 Castle Class 4-6-0 built at Swindon in July 1939, the last Castle built before a break of seven years due to the War and named after the ancient monument of Old Sarum, just north of Salisbury, Sarum being the Latin name for the Wiltshire city. Allocated new to Shrewsbury, it moved to Bristol Bath Road in June 1959 and finally to two Cardiff Sheds, Canton and East Dock from where it was withdrawn in March 1963 and sold for scrap to Cashmores at Newport. The front repainted. £6000-9000
