| Lot 227 | A smokebox numberplate 42519 from a LMS Class 4 2-6-4T No 2519 built at Derby in 1934, one of a sub-class of 37 3-cylinder tanks built specifically for hauling the heavy suburban services on the London Tilbury & Southend line. Latterly all were allocated to Shoeburyness, a few were withdrawn before 1962 but the remainder, including this one, were withdrawn in June 1962 when the line was electrified. It was cut up at Doncaster Works. The plate is in ex loco condition and is accompanied by its BR sale document. £500-800 |
