Lot 216 A worksplate, MANNING WARDLE, 241, 1867, from a standard gauge Class ‘Old I’ 0-6-0ST which went new on 4 January 1868 to Newton Chambers & Co, Thorncliffe Ironworks & Collieries, Thorncliffe, near Chapletown, Yorkshire West Riding, named THORNCLIFFE. Rebuilt by Manning Wardle in 1902 and again by Newton Chambers in 1932. Sold July 1946 to Ferens & Love (1937) Ltd, Cornsay Colliery and Brickworks, County Durham. Sold for scrap around March 1952. Engraved brass, 23½"x5¾", the front lightly polished. £2500-4000
