| Lot 342 | A smokebox numberplate, 42071, from a (LMS) Class 4 2-6-4T built at Brighton and allocated new to Stewarts Lane on 6 November 1950. Its later Southern Region sheds were Ashford, Ramsgate, Brighton and Three Bridges before it moved in November 1959 to the London Midland Region at Bletchley and later Willesden, Oxley and Trafford Park from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 18 March 1967 and taken for scrap by Cashmores at Great Bridge on 15 August 1967. Repainted; a shorter than standard plate as fitted at Brighton Works. £300-500 |
