Great Central Railwayana Auction Sale 241, Auction Lot 107
Lot 107 A nameplate, PRINCESS BEATRICE, from the LMS Princess Royal Class 8P 4-6-2 No 6209, BR 46209, built at Crewe and named when built after the fifth daughter (1857-1944) of Queen Victoria. Allocated new on loan to Crewe North on 23 August 1935, it moved the following month to Camden, returning to Crewe North in May 1942 and spending its best days there until September 1958. It finished its days at Camden from where it was withdrawn on 27 September 1962 and cut up at Crewe Works by 23 November 1962. Cast brass, length 46", the front repainted. £18000-22000
