Great Central Railwayana Auction Sale 234, Auction Lot 319
Lot 319 A worksplate, NORTH BRITISH LOCOMOTIVE Co, QUEENS PARK WORKS, 22225, 1919, from a Robinson Great Central Railway type 2-8-0 built in September 1919 to Ministry of Munitions order for the Railway Operating Division of the Royal Engineers, ROD No 2135. Loaned new to the Caledonian Railway in October 1919, it returned to the ROD in August 1921 and was stored at Gretna. In February 1927 it was sold to the LNER, becoming their O4 Class No 6637. Renumbered 3888 in 1946, it became BR 63888. A long time Darnall engine, it was withdrawn from there on 1 April 1960 and cut up at Gorton Works during the week ending 18 June 1960. Cast brass, 13"x 5¼", the front repainted. £250-400
