| Lot 425 | A smokebox numberplate, 48543, together with its Stanier hooter, from a LMS Stanier type 2-8-0 built to Railway Executive Committee order by the LNER at Darlington, Works No 1949, in 1945. Allocated new to Aberdeen Ferryhill on 11 January 1945 and then St Margarets, it moved south of the border in 1947 to Derby and its later sheds included Coalville, Wellingborough, Toton, Heaton Mersey, Warrington Dallam and Newton Heath from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 12 February 1966 and despatched for scrap to T.W. Ward at Beighton on 6 May 1966. The numbers repainted, otherwise original condition. (2) £450-600 |
