Auction Catalogue: Great Central Railwayana, 3 December 2016

Great Central Railwayana Auction Sale 221, Auction Lot 468
Lot 468 A smokebox numberplate, 58261, from a Midland Railway 1873 Class 0-6-0 No 2146 built by Neilson & Co, Works No 2928, in 1892. It was renumbered 3423 in 1907 and retained this number in LMS days, becoming BR 58261. At Leicester by January 1935, it moved in 1946 to Bromsgrove and in 1949 to Saltley from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 23 January 1960 and despatched for scrap to Doncaster Works on 12 April 1960. This plate is accompanied by a worksplate, LMS BUILT DERBY, which still has attached a BR tag identifying it to this loco. It is likely that this plate was fitted when the loco was re-boilered by the LMS in 1928. Each plate in ex loco condition. (2) £500-800
 This lot sold for £500.
