| Lot 316 | An instruction plate, SHUNT WITH CARE, TO WORK ONLY ON SCREW COUPLED TRAINS AS LAST VEHICLE, from an OLE inspection vehicle No 998900, built by Drewry with four wheel chain drive to one axle from a Gardner four cylinder engine with a maximum speed of 25mph. Initially used on the Manchester to Sheffield and Wath route and later transferred to Ilford, though little used there. The sister vehicle RDB998901 is preserved at the Middleton Railway in Leeds. Cast brass, 12"x 10½", in original condition with BR blue paintwork. £100-200 |
