Smokeboxes
30926 (Repton)
A smokebox numberplate 30926 from the SR Schools Class 4-4-0 No 926 built at Eastleigh in May 1934 and named REPTON after the public school in Derbyshire, becoming BR 30926. Allocated to Dover by January 1948 and later Ramsgate, Bricklayers Arms, Stewarts Lane and Basingstoke from where it was withdrawn on 30 December 1962. Purchased for preservation in 1966, it was overhauled at Eastleigh Works and moved to the USA, returning to the UK in 1990. It is currently on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway in SR olive green livery and with its original number 926. The smokebox numberplate was surplus to requirements when the loco was repainted in SR livery and was acquired by the vendor's late father at that time. Repainted. £800-1200
