A smokebox numberplate, 5400, from a GWR 5400 Class 0-6-0PT, the class leader numerically although not the first built, the prototype for the class being a rebuild of the earlier 2021 class No 2062 in August 1930 and given the number 5400. In June 1932 the prototype was dismantled and an entirely new loco built and numbered 5400. Allocated to Landore by January 1948 and later Goodwick, Carmarthen and Oswestry from where it was withdrawn on 22 April 1959 and cut up at Swindon Works in the week ending 20 June 1959. The front repainted. £300-500 |
