Auction Catalogue: Great Central Railwayana, 7 March 2020
Lot 496 |
A worksplate, AVELING & PORTER, 4851, from a 10 ton compound cylindered steam roller, supplied new on 26 September 1901 to a customer in Riga, Latvia where it was eventually cut up. It never worked in Britain and so presumably the plate was removed when it went to the scrap yard and was repatriated to the UK by a British steam enthusiast. Engraved brass, 10¾"x8", the front lightly polished. £200-350 |
