A cabside numberplate and matching plate from Class 31, 31 430 SISTER DORA. Named at Bescot depot on 9 October 1988 by the Vice Chairman of Walsall Heath Authority to commemorate the work of Dorothy Windlow Pattison (1832 to 1878), a local nurse who administered to the sick during a smallpox epidemic in the West Midlands. She was affectionately known as Sister Dora. The plates were removed in February 1996. Each cast brass, the oval plate 10¼"x6", ex loco condition, the rectangular plate 22"x6½", the front repainted. £300-500 |
