A worksplate, WALLIS & STEEVENS, BASINGSTOKE, 7638, from a 5 ton compound cylindered steam tractor of a special class which had the motion enclosed within an "oilbath". Supplied new on 15 November 1919 to an owner in Henley on Thames and named ALICE, and it spent its working life in Berkshire and Hampshire. Survived into preservation to the present day. Engraved brass, 9¾"x8¼", in ex loco condition. £150-300 |
