A nameplate, CHIRK CASTLE, from the GWR 4073 Castle Class 4-6-0 No 5025 built at Swindon in April 1934 and named when built after the 14th Century Castle one mile west of Chirk Station. A long time Bristol Bath Road engine and later Swindon, Oxford for five years, and Hereford from where it was withdrawn during the week ending 9 October 1963 and sold for scrap to Cashmores at Great Bridge, entering their yard on 25 April 1964. Original condition. £8000-12000 |
