A Derwent Valley Light Railway platform lamp, the name COTTINGWITH applied to the glass in painted blue lettering. The line ran from York Layerthorpe station to Cliff Common near Selby. It opened in 1913 and closed to passengers in 1926. The southern section through Cottingwith was finally closed in 1965. The lamp is complete with vessel, burner, glass chimney and makers plate, Joseph Biggins Birmingham. Restored. £200-350 |
