Auction Catalogue: Great Central Railwayana, 7 March 2020
Lot 25 |
A worksplate, MARSHALL SONS & CO, GAINSBOROUGH, No 14873. The works number for this plate dates this to June 1887, but there is no record for it in the Marshall list which is not uncommon as, in this period, they made a lot of equipment other than traction engines. It is most likely from a portable steam engine or a stationary engine or boiler built for export of which Marshalls made tens of thousands. Engraved brass, 5¾"x3½", the front lightly polished. £100-200 |
| This lot sold for £540. |
