A nameplate NORTH ASTON HALL from the (GWR) 6959 Modified Hall Class 4-6-0 No 7917 built at Swindon in April 1950 and named after a country house estate south of Banbury. Allocated new to Reading on 24 October 1950, where it remained for eight years, moving to Old Oak Common and later Cardiff Canton, Cardiff East Dock, Ebbw Junction and Oxford from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 27 November 1965 and sold for scrap to Birds Commercial Motors at Bynea. Original green paint on splasher, the brass lightly polished. £5000-6000 |
