A worksplate, LB&SCR, BRIGHTON WORKS, No 83, 1912, from a London Brighton & South Coast Railway I3 Class 4-4-2T No 83 designed by Marsh and built by his successor Billinton at Brighton Works in August 1912. It became SR 2083 and BR 32083 and spent its BR days at Eastbourne from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 23 June 1951 and cut up at Eastleigh Works the following week. Cast brass with engraved characters, overall 16¼"x9¾", unpolished, the back stamped L83, indicating that this is the left hand side plate. £1000-1500 |
