A worksplate, NORTH BRITISH LOCOMOTIVE CO, HYDE PARK WORKS, 24767, 1942, from a Stanier type 2-8-0 built for the War Department to Ministry of Supply order, WD No 558. Loaned new to the LMS in June 1942, it returned to the WD in June 1943 and was sold to the LMS in December 1943, their Class 8F No 8271, and allocated to Normanton, becoming BR 48271. It moved in February 1952 to Toton and in April 1963 to Burton, finishing its days at Northwich from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 12 August 1967 and sold for scrap to J. Buttigieg at Newport. Cast brass, 7¾" diameter, in ex loco condition. £150-300 |
