A smokebox numberplate, 63750, from a Robinson Great Central Railway type 2-8-0 built by the North British Locomotive Co, Works No 21798, in November 1917 to Ministry of Munitions order for the Railway Operating Division of the Royal Engineers, ROD No 1831. Loaned to the GWR in January 1920, their No 3088, it returned to the ROD in October 1922 to be stored at Beachley until passed to the LNER in December 1923 as their Class O4 No 6278, renumbered 3750 in 1946, becoming BR 63750. Allocated to Colwick by January 1948 and later Annesley, Mexborough, Doncaster, Langwith Junction, Immingham and finally back to Colwick from where it was withdrawn on 9 March 1964 and sold for scrap to A. Loom at Spondon. The front repainted. £300-500 |
