A worksplate, SUPER-SENTINEL 6959, from a solid tyred Super-Sentinel 6-ton road steam waggon, supplied new in August 1927 to Greaves, Bull & Lakin Ltd, Harbury Cement Works, Warwickshire, registered UE 4787. Taken over by Associated Portland Cement Manufacturers Ltd in 1931 and lettered for Cement Marketing Company with the fleet number 123. Later sold to Fred Dyke, Haulage Contractor, Fareham, Hampshire and converted to pneumatic tyres in 1935. Later sold to James & Son (Grain Merchants) of Olmar Wharf, Bermondsey, London. Finally sold for scrap in the early 1950’s. Cast brass, 5"x9¾", the front lightly cleaned. £200-350 |
