A worksplate, SOCIETE ANONYME FRANCO-BELGE, LA CROYERE, 1272, 1899, from a Barry Railway Class B1 0-6-2T No 122, one of a batch of five locos built by the Belgian firm at a time when British builders were inundated with orders and unable to offer reasonable deliveries. When the BR and its locos was absorbed by the GWR in 1922 it became GWR 273 and was rebuilt at Swindon with a Standard No 9 boiler in September 1929. It was withdrawn in November 1945. Cast brass, 16¾"x8", in ex loco condition. (Note: Only one worksplate was carried by each loco, in the cab, and this is one of only two known survivors) £400-600 |
