Great Central Railwayana Auction Sale 271, Auction Lot 394
Lot 394 A cabside numberplate, SOUTHERN RAILWAY, 2043, from a London Brighton & South Coast Railway B4 Class 4-4-0 built at Brighton in June 1902 and named DUCHESS OF FIFE, although it had lost its name by the Grouping. It became SR 2043 and was rebuilt with a K Class boiler and re-classified as B4X in June 1923, becoming BR 32043. Withdrawn from Brighton in the week ending 24 November 1951, it was cut up at Ashford Works. Cast brass, 13¾"x7¾", the front lightly cleaned, original paintwork. £1000-1500
