A worksplate HUNSLET ENGINE, 1675 of 1931. From a standard gauge 0-6-0 side tank, one of two supplied new to the Underground group of companies for use on works trains. Numbered L30 and based at Lillie Bridge depot. Became part of the newly formed London Passenger Transport Board, District Line, in 1933 after which it was sometimes seen at the main depot at Neasden. Became London Transport in 1948. The older steam locomotives on London Transport were replaced by ex-GWR 57xx pannier tanks between 1957 and 1963 and L30 was withdrawn and scrapped in 1964. Cast brass, 11½"x8", the front repainted. £300-500 |
