A wagonplate, TO TRAVEL BETWEEN CADBURY'S, BOURNVILLE AND CAMBRIDGE DEPOT, HILLS ROAD L.M&S RLY. SHUNT WITH CARE IN CASE OF BREAKDOWN WIRE LIFFORD, the back with similar wording but LEEDS DEPOT WHITEHALL ROAD STN. During the second world war part of the Bournville factory was used for the production of pilot's seats for fighter aircraft. It is thought that this plate is from a goods van used to transport supplies to sites assembling aircraft. Cast brass, 9" square, in original condition. £150-300 |
