An industrial locomotive nameplate, ELSA, from Manning Wardle 1328 of 1898, a standard gauge 0-4-0ST new to Bell Brothers Ltd, Brownley Colliery, Meadowfield, County Durham. Transferred in 1918 to Parsons Byers Quarry, Stanhope. Taken over by Dorman Long Ltd in 1923 and rebuilt 1925 by Ridley Shaw & Co, Middlesbrough. Transferred to Newlandside Quarry, Stanhope in March 1940 and returned to Parsons Byers quarry by November 1951, where it was scrapped in 1956. Cast brass, length 24¼", ex loco condition. £600-900 |
