A London & South Western Railway coat of arms headboard carried on the smokebox of the O2 Class locomotive No 185 on the opening day of the Borden to Bisley branch on 12th July 1890. The coat of arms is painted on wood, 20¾"x24", the back retains a steel fitting to attach to the lamp bracket. The headboard has been repainted though the original granulated texture is visible. A label on the back describes its use and states that it was recovered from Eastleigh and restored in the 1930s by Bob Cogger, a well-known enthusiast and collector of the time. £250-400 |
