A nameplate MADDEN from the LMS Class 5XP Jubilee No 5668 built at Crewe in December 1935 and named on 4 February 1937 after Admiral Sir Charles Edward Madden who died in 1937, becoming BR 45668. Allocated new to Crewe North on 2 December 1935 and later Longsight, Camden, Bushbury, Patricroft, Derby and Burton from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 21 December 1963 and cut up at Crewe Works by 31 January 1964. Cast brass, length 28¾", the front repainted. £6000-7000 |
