A worksplate ROBERT STEPHENSON & HAWTHORNS, 7099 of 1943. From a standard gauge Austerity 0-6-0ST numbered 75063 which went new to the War Department at Shoeburyness, Essex. Transferred to Tidworth Depot, Hampshire in April 1947 and subsequently worked at a number of other Army depots, latterly with the running number 125. In February 1957 it was transferred to the WD Shropshire & Montgomeryshire Railway. In March 1960 it went to Bicester Depot, from where it was sold in October 1960 to the NCB at Tredegar workshops, Monmouthshire. Transferred to Elliott Colliery, New Tredegar in 1964 and then to Celynon South Colliery, Abercarn in 1967. To Maerdy Colliery, Maerdy later in 1967. Scrapped on site at Maerdy by John Cashmore Ltd, March 1971. Cast iron, 13"x8½", the front repainted. £300-500 |
