A GWR cabside numberplate, 5070, from the 4073 Castle Class 4-6-0 SIR DANIEL GOOCH built at Swindon in June 1938 and named after the Company's Locomotive Superintendent and later Chairman. A long time Stafford Road engine, it later moved to Shrewsbury and Old Oak Common from where it was withdrawn on 20 March 1964 and sold for scrap to Birds Commercial Motors at Risca on 3 June 1964. Cast brass, the front repainted. Note: Both nameplates and the other cabside from this engine are owned by public museums. £3000-4000 |
