A GWR cabside numberplate 2853 from a 2800 Class 2-8-0 built at Swindon in February 1913. Converted to oil burning and renumbered 4810 in November 1947, it reverted to its original number when the oil burning apparatus was removed in June 1949. Allocated to St Philips Marsh by January 1948 and later Banbury, Croes Newydd, Southall, Stourbridge and Reading from where it was withdrawn on 7 May 1962 and cut up at Swindon Works in the week ending 22 September 1962. Cast brass, the front repainted. £500-800 |
