A worksplate, BEYER PEACOCK, 1906, from a collection of plates from British based locos, so this plate is likely to be from a 4-6-0 built for the Great Central Railway in 1906 either BP 4806-4815 that became LNER Class B9, GCR numbers 1105-1114, or BP 4816-4825 that became LNER Class B4, GCR numbers 1095-1104, examples of both classes surviving into the late 1940s. Also there were two 4-4-0’s built in 1906 for the Great Northern Railway of Ireland, BP 4736 & 4737 which were numbered 106 and 107 and when the GNR(I) was wound up in 1958 106 went to the CIE and 107 to the UTA, with the latter withdrawn in 1958. Cast brass, 9¾"x5½", the front repainted. £250-400 |
