A nameplate, GREAT CENTRAL, from the Peppercorn A1 Class 4-6-2 No 60156 built at Doncaster, Works No 2050, in October 1949 and named in July 1962, one of five A1s named after LNER constituent companies. Allocated new to Kings Cross on 19 October 1949 and later Grantham, Doncaster and York from where it was withdrawn on 10 May 1965 and sold for scrap to Clayton Davie at Gateshead. The nameplate incorporates the GCR hand painted coat of arms in untouched ex loco condition. Cast brass, 49½"x21". £30000-40000 |
