A nameplate, FOUNTAINS HALL, from the (GWR) 6959 Modified Hall Class 4-6-0 No 7904 built at Swindon in April 1949 and named after the Hall close to Fountains Abbey near Ripon, North Yorkshire. Allocated new on 14 April 1949 to Old Oak Common where it spent almost all its working life, moving towards the end to Reading, Worcester, Bristol Barrow Road and Oxford from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 11 December 1965 and sold for scrap to Cashmores at Newport, taken by them on 13 June 1966. £4500-6000 |
